Christian Coaching in Oklahoma

Faith-based help for men and marriages that honors your values.

You need help, but you want help that understands your faith. You're not looking for someone who will pathologize your beliefs or treat Scripture as irrelevant to your struggles. You want a practitioner who takes both the spiritual and practical dimensions of your life seriously.

If you're looking for Christian coaching or counseling in Oklahoma, you have options. The question is finding someone who integrates faith authentically with approaches that actually produce change, rather than using Christianity as a marketing label or treating the Bible as a bandaid for complex problems.

What Christian Coaching Actually Means

Christian coaching is not just secular therapy with prayer added at the end. It's an approach that takes seriously both biblical wisdom and the practical realities of human psychology. It recognizes that humans are complex beings, body, soul, and spirit, and that effective help addresses all three dimensions.

Scripture speaks directly to the issues that bring people to coaching. Proverbs is full of wisdom about relationships, anger, and communication. The Psalms model emotional honesty before God. Paul's letters address everything from marriage to conflict resolution to the transformation of character. A Christian coach draws on this deep well of wisdom while also utilizing evidence based tools that help translate insight into action.

This is different from purely secular approaches that ignore the spiritual dimension entirely. It's also different from approaches that treat Bible verses as magic formulas, as if quoting the right Scripture will automatically fix complex relational patterns or heal deep wounds. Authentic Christian coaching takes faith seriously and takes the complexity of human experience seriously. Both matter.

Why Faith Integration Matters

For many people in Oklahoma, faith isn't a compartment of life. It's the foundation. Your understanding of who God is, who you are, and what marriage means shapes everything about how you approach your struggles. Working with someone who shares and respects that foundation makes a significant difference.

Shared values simplify the work. When both you and your coach agree on the authority of Scripture, the sanctity of marriage, and the reality of spiritual transformation, you don't have to spend sessions arguing about first principles. You can move directly to application.

Biblical wisdom actually helps. Concepts like forgiveness, covenant commitment, servant leadership, and dying to self aren't just religious platitudes. They're practical frameworks that change how people approach their marriages and their lives. A Christian coach helps you apply these concepts in tangible ways.

Spiritual resources are real resources. Prayer, Scripture meditation, community support, and the work of the Holy Spirit aren't substitutes for practical effort, but they're powerful complements to it. A Christian coach acknowledges and incorporates these resources rather than ignoring them.

Meaning matters. Suffering without meaning is unbearable. Christian faith provides a framework for understanding struggle as purposeful, as part of a larger story of redemption and growth. Research from the American Psychological Association confirms that religious faith is associated with better mental health outcomes, including lower rates of depression and greater resilience. This doesn't make pain easier, but it makes it bearable in ways that purely secular frameworks can't offer.

Issues Christian Coaching Addresses

Marriage struggles. Christian marriage coaching addresses the full range of marital problems: communication breakdown, conflict patterns, emotional distance, intimacy issues, and crisis situations including infidelity. It does so with an understanding of marriage as covenant rather than contract, of spouses as called to mutual submission and sacrificial love, and of divorce as a last resort rather than a first response.

Men's issues. Many Christian men struggle with passivity, finding themselves neither leading nor following but simply drifting. They've absorbed cultural messages about masculinity that conflict with biblical teaching, or they've rejected cultural messages without knowing what to replace them with. King Energy, what I call mature masculine authority, is a distinctly Christian vision of manhood that integrates strength with service, decisiveness with humility, and leadership with love.

Family systems and toxic dynamics. Scripture is full of dysfunctional families. From the dysfunction of Jacob's household to the conflicts among David's sons, the Bible acknowledges the reality of toxic family dynamics. Christian coaching helps people navigate these situations, including the difficult decision of when to set boundaries or even limit contact with family members who are destructive.

Recovery from abuse. Narcissistic parents, gaslighting, trauma bonding, and other forms of abuse require specialized understanding. Christian coaching addresses these issues without minimizing them as "just forgive and forget" and without abandoning biblical principles about forgiveness and reconciliation. It holds both the reality of harm and the possibility of healing in tension.

Father wounds. The father wound affects how men relate to God, to their own children, and to authority in general. Christian coaching addresses this wound in ways that connect psychological healing with spiritual healing, recognizing that our understanding of God as Father is deeply shaped by our experience of earthly fathers.

What to Look for in a Christian Coach

Authentic faith, not marketing. Many practitioners use "Christian" as a label to attract a certain clientele without actually integrating faith into their work. Ask potential coaches about how their faith shapes their approach. If they can't articulate a clear integration, or if their answer is simply "I'm a Christian too," dig deeper.

Theological soundness. Not everyone who claims the Christian label holds to historic Christian faith. If theological alignment matters to you, ask about the coach's beliefs on Scripture, salvation, and other core doctrines. Make sure their understanding of Christianity matches yours.

Actual training and competence. Being a Christian doesn't automatically make someone competent to address complex relational and psychological issues. Look for coaches with specific training in the areas you need help with. Faith is necessary but not sufficient. Skill matters too.

Balance of grace and truth. Jesus was full of grace and truth, not one or the other. Some practitioners are so focused on grace that they never challenge unhealthy patterns. Others are so focused on truth that they lack compassion. Effective Christian coaching holds both.

Willingness to address hard issues directly. Some Christian practitioners avoid topics like abuse, narcissism, or the option of separation because they seem "unbiblical." A skilled Christian coach can address these issues faithfully without pretending that simplistic solutions work for complex situations.

Christian Coaching in Oklahoma

Oklahoma is part of the Bible Belt, with a strong church culture and many people seeking faith-based resources. This means you have options for Christian coaching across the state, from large ministries to individual practitioners, from Tulsa to Oklahoma City to smaller communities.

The challenge is finding someone whose faith integration is authentic and whose skills are developed. Many well-meaning pastors and church counselors lack the training to address complex issues effectively. Meanwhile, some licensed professionals who call themselves Christian barely integrate faith at all. You want someone who brings both genuine faith and genuine competence to the work.

Virtual coaching has expanded options significantly. If you're in a smaller Oklahoma community without local resources, you can work with qualified Christian coaches anywhere in the state or beyond via video call.

About Dr. Hines Inc.

My practice is based in Broken Arrow and serves clients throughout Oklahoma. I hold a Doctorate in Christian Counseling and bring over 35,000 clinical hours to my work with men and couples. My approach integrates biblical wisdom with evidence based methods like the Gottman research on relationships.

I work exclusively with men, either individually or in men's groups, and with couples through marriage intensives and ongoing coaching. My focus is helping men break free from passivity, overcome toxic family dynamics, and step into the mature masculine leadership God designed them for.

I'm direct. I believe love tells the truth even when it's uncomfortable. I don't validate dysfunction just because someone calls themselves a Christian, and I don't pretend that complex problems have simple solutions. But I also bring genuine faith to the work and understand that lasting transformation involves the spiritual dimension as much as the practical one.

If you want someone who will pray with you, ground the work in Scripture, and still challenge you to do the hard work of change, we should talk.

Taking the First Step

Proverbs 11:14 says, "Where there is no guidance, a people falls, but in an abundance of counselors there is safety." Seeking help isn't weakness. It's wisdom. The question isn't whether you need guidance but whether you'll humble yourself enough to seek it.

A discovery call costs nothing and commits you to nothing. It's a conversation about your situation, what you're facing, and whether coaching might help. Whether you work with me or find another qualified Christian coach, the important thing is that you take the step.

If you're in Oklahoma and looking for faith-based help for your marriage, your family, or your own growth as a man, resources are available. Your faith doesn't have to be a barrier to getting professional help. It can be the foundation.
