🚫 What Hurts More Than It Helps

Skip these during early recovery β€” they spike the system you’re trying to calm.

Avoid during recovery

  • High-stimulant pre-workouts and excessive caffeine
  • Doomscrolling, intense news in the morning, emotional content before bed
  • Long fasts of sixteen hours or more β€” added stress on a taxed system
  • HIIT and CrossFit-style training, especially in early recovery
  • Late-night intense conversations or emotional processing

πŸ“ˆ Realistic Expectations

Track the trend, not the day. Heart-rate variability (HRV) is the most reliable signal β€” watch it over weeks, not individual days.

Stack three to five of these for four to six weeks before expecting meaningful change. Some help in real time β€” slow-exhale breathing, cold exposure, the physiological sigh. Most build through repetition. Six to twelve months of consistent practice produces durable change.
